Bharat Electronics Limited

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) is an Indian state-owned aerospace and defence company under the Ministry of Defence. It is one of nine Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in India that have been conferred the status of Maharatna, which entitles them to greater autonomy and financial powers.

BEL was established at Bangalore, India in 1954 to meet the specialised electronic needs of the Indian Defence Services. Over the years, it has grown into a multi-product, multi-technology, multi-unit company serving the needs of customers in diverse fields in India and abroad.

BEL manufactures a wide range of products for the Indian Defence Services, including Radar Systems, Weapon Systems, Electronic Warfare Systems, Communication Systems, Electronic Components and Semi-conductors. In addition, BEL provides turnkey systems solutions.

BEL has also diversified into civilian products and services such as Solar Photovoltaic Systems, Transport Telecommunication Systems, Broadcasting & Surveillance Systems, Industrial Electronics, Information Technology and Communication Systems.

BEL has a well-established in-house R&D capability. It has been accredited with the ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and ISO 27001:2005 quality management system certification. BEL has also been conferred the status of ‘Mini Ratna-1’ by the Government of India.

BEL has an extensive marketing and support network, with offices and representatives in India and abroad. It has established joint ventures and collaborative arrangements with reputed companies in India and abroad.

The company has eight manufacturing units, four located in India (Ghaziabad, Panchkula, Bangalore and Pune) and four abroad (Netherlands, UAE, Israel and Ghana). It also has a marketing office in Australia.

BEL’s products are exported to over 60 countries. The company has a strong focus on export of radar systems, communication systems and electronic warfare systems.
