BPCL’s core business is refining of crude oil and marketing of the resultant products such as Petrol, Diesel, LPG, Aviation Turbine Fuel, Petcoke, Bitumen, Paraffins, Solvents, Greases, Waxes, and Asphalt.
The company also has a strong presence in the exploration and production of oil and gas, both in India and abroad. It has a joint venture with BHP Billiton, called BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA), which is one of the largest coal mines in Australia.

Future outlook:
BPCL is aiming to become a integrated energy company by 2025. It is planning to invest Rs. 1 trillion (US$15.6 billion) in the next 5-7 years to achieve this goal.
The company is also planning to expand its refining capacity to 40 million metric tons per annum (MMTPA) by 2025 from the current 30 MMTPA.
